UFC 112: Brad Blackburn vs. DaMarques Johnson official

A rumored welterweight matchup between DaMarques Johnson (10-7 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Brad Blackburn (15-10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has been confirmed today by UFC officials for next month’s UFC 112 event.

The bout is part of the preliminary card of UFC 112, which takes place at Concert Arena (at the Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, April 10, 2010.

Johnson was scheduled to face against Peter Sobotta on November 14, 2009 at UFC 105, but the bout has been cancelled due to a military commitment for Sobotta. Johnson instead fought and defeated Edgar Garcia via submission (triangle choke) at UFC 107 in his first career pay-per-view fight and he even earned submission of the night honors.

And for Blackbrun his most recent fight was with TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah on UFC Fight Night 20. In this fight, Blackburn was rocked badly once in the first round and would go on to get rocked again in the third round by a knee. Blackburn survived Sadollah’s attacks going on to lose by unanimous decision.
