Spencer Fisher arrested and released on bail after “interfering with an official act.”

UFC lightweight, Spencer Fisher, who is set to take on Kurt Warburton at UFC 120 at the O2 Arena in London, England in October, has been arrested in Bettendorf, Iowa for “interfering with an official act”.

Fisher was released on a $300 bond on his own recognizance. According to the Iowa criminal code that deals with the charge, a person who knowingly resists or obstructs the service or execution by any authorized person of any civil or criminal process of order of any court, commits a serious misdemeanour.

The terms “resist” and “obstruct” do not include verbal harassment unless the verbal harassment is accompanied by a present ability and apparent intention to execute a verbal threat physically. Although the exact details of why Fisher was arrested were not disclosed, this minor incident should not affect his position with the UFC and his ability to travel to England for UFC 120 in October.
