Randy Couture’s camp reveals James Toney fight not a catchweight

Randy Couture’s camp in Las Vegas, Nevada have revealed that the UFC 118 heavyweight fight between “The Natural” and boxing champion, James Toney will not be contested at a catchweight, confirming it will indeed be a normal heavyweight contest.

Toney had been in Las Vegas this past weekend revealing that the UFC had decided to make the bout a catch-weight to keep the “Hall of Famer” happy. The plans were later confirmed by the UFC’s officials. When asked about the news, members of the Xtreme Couture team said they’d heard no such thing.

Couture’s lawyer, Sam Spira, speaking to MMAJunkie.com, said:

“The Toney camp couldn’t agree to a catch-weight, and there’s been no discussion about it thereafter. I suggest James Toney stop playing with dolls and focus on the fight.”
