K-1 WORLD MAX 2010 – 70kg Japan Tournament Fight Card/Updates

The very popular Koki Kameda will defend his WBC Flyweight title for the first time against Thai Pongsaklek Wonjongkam and the Japan Tournament of the 2010 K-1 World MAX will both take place on March 27th. TBS will air a 3 hour special with consisting of both of these events.

On the 23rd, just 4 days before his fight with cosplayer Nagashima in the quarterfinal of the K-1 World MAX 2010 Japan Tournament, popular Japanese kickboxer Taishin Kohiruimaki announced his retirement from the sport because of a hip joint injury. he will look to have a possible retirement fight with a fighter he hasn’t faced before.

K-1 Producer Tanigawa wasn’t happy with Kohiruimaki who pulled out of a fight in the last minute for the third time on the 23rd. Tanigawa said that Kohiruimaki doesn’t qualify as a pro and that Masato didn’t pull out of a fight even once.

Also announced was that 2009 champion, Giorgio Petrosyan, will not face Yoshihiro Sato in what would’ve been a mega fight. His right fist injury from last year returned in a recent fight he had in Milan, Italy. Sato will instead face Danilo Zanolini and Yuji Nashiro will enter the tournament to take Kohiruimaki’s spot.
