Jake Ellenberger out, Jon Fitch in; Ben Saunders vs. Jon Fitch at UFC 111

Earlier we reported UFC welterweight contender, Thiago Alves was forced out of his fight against Jon Fitch at UFC 111 after a failed CT scan revealed an irregularity involving an artery in his brain.

Now we’ve learned that Jon Fitch (21-3 MMA, 11-1 UFC), has agreed to replace Jake Ellenberger (22-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and fight fellow welterweight Ben Saunders (8-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) on the main card of UFC 111.

“Killa B” was scheduled to appear on the UFC 111 fight card opposite Jake Ellenberger, but appearently Saunders specifically asked for the new bout when Fitch became available.

Ellenberger was promised a “show” and “win” money to make up for the UFC’s last-minute switch, an official announcement is expected any time now.

The official fight card now looks like this:

Carwin vs. Frank Mir (for interim heavyweight title)
Jon Fitch vs. Ben Saunders
