Brendan Schaub: No one cares if you’re beating up the fat wrestlers, bring on Frank Mir

UFC heavyweight star on the rise, Brendan Schaub has given his reasons for calling out former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir following his unanimous decisio win over Gabriel Gonzaga this past Saturday night at UFC 121 in Anaheim, California.

Schaub, speaking via MMAJunkie.com, said:

“No one cares if you’re beating up the fat wrestlers all the time. To go in there and do a war with a guy like Frank Mir – win, lose, or draw, that’s what this is about. You don’t want to look back on your career and be like, ‘Oh yeah, Brendan beat up that out-of-shape wrestler. That was awesome.’ My kids watching the tape (would be) like, ‘Dad, are you serious?’”

“I have the utmost respect for Frank Mir. It’s more of the same boat as Gonzaga. It’s a guy that I grew up watching, and they’re the stars and household names and legends of the sport. I’m in the business to fight the best guys. In no facet am I talking [trash] against Frank Mir.”

“I feel like I can compete with anyone in the division. I’ve got a lot of learning to do, and I’m always trying to improve, but at the same time, I feel I can do some things that would give either one of those guys some problems.”
