Alistair Overeem vs. Brett Rogers for heavyweight title

Strikeforce official, Mike Afromowitz has confirmed that the heavyweight fight between Strikeforce champion, Alistair Overeem and Brett Rogers, will indeed be for the heavyweight title.

The May 15th St. Louis event, aka Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery will also feature heavyweight Andrei Arlovski, as he makes his MMA return against former EliteXC heavyweight champ, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva.

On November 16, 2007, Overeem defeated Paul Buentello for the vacant Strikeforce heavyweight title. Overeem is yet to defend his title, fighting for both the DREAM and K-1 promotions, ignoring his Strikeforce heavyweight title responsibilities.

Rogers last received the first loss of his career, via knockout to the number one ranked fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, November 7th in Chicago, Illinois at Strikefoce: Fedor vs. Rogers.
