Shinya Aoki returns vs. former boxing champion, Yokthai Sithoar at DEEP 50

DEEP announced earlier today at a press conference held in Tokyo at their official gym that DREAM lightweight champion, Shinya Aoki will make his return to Japanese based MMA promotion, DEEP for the first time since 2004 to battle former WBA world super flyweight champion, Yokthai Sithoar in Tokyo, Japan on October 24th, 2010.

Aoki defeated the likes of Caol Uno, Eddie Alvarez and Joachim Hansen to prove he’s one of the best lightweiights in the world before losing to Gilbert Melendez earlier this year, since that he’a been back on a roll defeating Tatsuya Kawajiri and Marcus Aurelio in quick succession.

Sithoar will be a stern test for Aoki on the feet and is a former Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai champion as well as picking up the WBA title at the start of the 90’s. As for the ground game, he’ll have to avoid it at all costs if he’s to stand any chance in this one.
